- In 1966, I studied at Hanoi Pedagogical University - I wrote a volunteer application to join the Army, fulfilling Uncle Ho's call.

- I was admitted to the Special Commando Reconnaissance School in Son Tay.

- In early 1968 was transferred to the battlefield and was assigned to the reconnaissance unit of the 320th Division - I fought in the Binh Tri Thien battlefield with the smoke and fire "Eat rice in the north and fight in the south at night".

- I attended the 9th Road campaign in Southern Laos, in 1971 the fierce fighting of the 9th Road campaign in Southern Laos. I was injured due to severe burns and amputated lower third of my right arm, was treated by my teammates and transferred to the front hospital of Military Zone 4. After that, I was transferred to nursing and convalescence at Camp Invalids in Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh province.

- By October 1979, they were classified as disabled: 84% were type 1/4 Invalids.
