- I just finished high school to fulfill Uncle Ho's call, I wrote a volunteer application to enlist in the army in September 1967, studying for a 6 month squad leader class at Goi - Y Yen district - Nam Dinh province.
- In March 1968, I went along Truong Son to connect line 559 to Battlefield B2, I was assigned to be a frame officer of C500 in Cambodia.
- In November 1974, when I led troops from the 559th Group's communication station, when I crossed the Sesan River in Cambodia, I was ambushed, on an American plane, under the Saigon Army commandos, both sides fought fiercely against me. After I was injured, I was sent back to the treatment unit at the C500 Treatment Team. In August 1975, I was transferred to the Phu Ly Ha Nam War Invalids Nursing Camp.
- By June 1976, I was classified as disabled at 45%, type 3/4 Invalids.
